During the setting and hardening process of concrete, cement hydration generates a large amount of hydration heat, which accumulates and accelerates the internal temperature rise of the concrete; However, concrete has poor thermal conductivity and fast surface heat dissipation, resulting in a large temperature difference between the inside and outside of the concrete structure. In addition, the low tensile strength and small elastic modulus of concrete in the early stage cause certain tensile stress on the surface of the concrete. When the tensile stress exceeds the tensile strength of the internal and external concrete, the concrete surface will crack, resulting in temperature difference cracks.
To prevent concrete cracking, in addition to ensuring reasonable mix proportions, construction techniques, and curing; Artificial cooling measures can also be taken, that is, by pre cooling and adding cold water to the aggregates, and mixing concrete with ice flakes to reduce the temperature of the concrete when it is poured, in order to control the temperature during concrete pouring;
In addition to controlling the temperature during pouring, large volume concrete is pre embedded with water pipes inside the concrete to reduce the temperature inside the concrete through cooling water.
